Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

Produced by Brigham Young University

Waiting for Godot is a classic story of mankind’s search for meaning. A small cast of characters invites the audience to consider the point of life and what it is each of us is waiting for.

The Concept

For the costuming of this show, the director wanted something that was time period ambiguous with a muted, simple palette. Characterization was brought in with little touches, such as Vladimir’s tidier, more intellectual appearance and Pozzo’s medals that he most certainly awarded to himself. There was also a preference for a darker color scheme so that as the characters drew on the set with chalk, the world would transfer to their costumes.
